Farm to Fork on Main

Albertville Farmers Market's fourth annual Farm to Table Dinner has officially been set for Thursday, September 5th, 2019, on Main Street! Tickets will go on sale mid summer, at Albertville Farmers Market, and online at cityofalbertville.com, via EventBrite. Stay tuned to the Farmers Market's social channels for an "on sale date" announcement! Pay close attention, as most years tickets are gone before most folks even hear they're on sale, and seating is limited to 150 people.

Farm to Table Dinner Setting
If you've attended before, you know, the menu is ALWAYS a suprise and it gets better and better every single year! Featured chefs in the past have been Crystal McKone of Old Town Stock House and Jessica Hanners of Homecoming Cafe and Catering. Both previous chefs are known for their farm to fork menu concept, sourcing all of their ingredients locally, and helping cultivate sustainable farming in our community. The farmers market committee works directly with the chefs each year to help prepare a menu that will not only excite, but delight the taste buds of all our special guests we have the pleasure of hosting at this event year after year. We ensure that as many ingredients as possible from our menu come directly from the growers and vendors of Albertville Farmers Market, whether its livestock, greens or other produce, dairy, or even wine! Yes, don't you know, Albertville is home to the multiple award winning number one winery in the state of Alabama, Jules J. Berta Vineyards and Winery! If you've never considered a vineyard a farm, we suggest you take a visit to Berta's and check out Mr. Jules in action one sunny day!

Course 2, Farm to Table Dinner 2018

Perhaps the most charming part of this event that serves solely to highlight our local farmers and restaurants, is its setting on Main Street, in downtown Albertville. We line the street with long tables that accommodate 150 guests, and seat them family style, so they can enjoy not only the great food we serve them that night, but fellowship with their friends and neighbors as well! What's even better is, we, the farmers market committee, actually don't serve them at all. We leave this up to the Albertville High School ProStart Culinary and Event Planning Students. If you asked our community what makes this event one of their favorites all year, it'd be the aspect of how we incorporate education into the dinner by relying on the students to serve the meal, help us order the linens, china, and even sale tickets, and promote the event. We literally couldn't do it without them and we love watching them shine that night in September each year.

Without further ado, we are elated to announce the chef for this year's fourth annual Albertville Farmers Market Farm to Table Dinner, Chef JP Pendergrass of Local Joes- Albertville, Attalla, Rainbow City. We already know what you're thinking... Mmmmm! If you haven't had a chance to check out their new restaurant downtown Albertville, let us advise you to get there quickly. You're truly missing out! We can't wait to showcase them further September 5th at the dinner; snag your tickets this summer. Stay posted to our Facebook page @albertvillefarmersmarket for more details as they become available and frequent our farmers market, beginning May 2nd, each Thursday, this season for chances to win tickets! Remember, know your food, know your farmer, and support local. See you on September 5th!

A "Ground Breaking" Project, Welcome Sand Mountain Park & Amphitheater to Albertville

Sand Mountain Park, Baseball Complex, Championship Field Something "BIG" is coming, something rather unprecedented for Marshall County, AL, much less, Albertville. Something of the magnitude of approximatley 133 acres, buildings of near 300,000 square feet, and more; but, we'll get back to that in a minute. For years, as a municipality, we've struggled to gain the attention we deserve from retailers and developers who have notoriously built just outside of our city limits, often times, in Guntersville, to draw from the lake, or previously, in Boaz, to be near the now decrepit Tanger Outlets. Albertville is three times the size of our neighboring cities ranging 26 square miles, with a population of nearly 30,000. When Wal-Mart, Belk, Lowe's, Staple's, Chik Fil A, Cracker Barrel, Publix, and a vast array of other retailers decided to locate outside of our city limits to the North and South of us, our friends in Boaz and Guntersville began "eating

Census 2020, Good Thing or Scary Thing?

It's hard to believe the last Census was taken in 2010. To say it, doesn't sound that long ago, but consider where you were nine years ago, how old you were, what you were doing. More importantly, consider technology and how different it looks today. Even nine years ago, the evolution of social media hadn't come full circle to the point it has today. Smartphones, Tablets, and iPads were just becoming known to the majority of society, but most weren't yet household "givens" at that time, as they were just beginning to gain notoriety. I know, that's hard to imagine today!  So, now consider what canvas
